Back live from the commercial break, the camera is on the announce table as the last few preparations are put in place.
Joe Hoffman: Welcome back folks, it’s time for a match that could have serious ramifications heading into War Games this time next month. Since turning on Lee Best on our first show after March To Glory, Jason P Davidson has had a target on his back. We know that he will be captaining Team 4CW along with Cyrus Riddle, and last week we found out his third team-mate will be Caleb Houston.
Benny Newell: Who?
Joe Hoffman: That revelation came at the expense of Scott Stevens and Darkwing in the parking lot after the show ended, and Stevens will be looking to extract some revenge.
Benny Newell: I’m torn, Hoffhole. On the one hand, I don’t want Jason to win. On the other hand though, we all know what Stevens is capable of when the chips are down.
Joe Hoffman: You mean two time world champion Scott Stevens?
Benny Newell: Of course not Hoffhole! Let me tell you about the Lonesome Loser!
Joe Hoffman: Well, with the roll Jason has been on recently, Stevens had better hope it’s the former that turns up tonight!
Red lasers and spotlights light up the area as the angelic voice of Lauryn Hill serenades the live crowd.
“Ready or not, here I come, you can’t hide – Gonna find you and take it slowly – Ready or not, here I come, you can’t hide – Gonna find you and make you want me”
The video screen lights up and a Texas flag flashes across the screen with the words, “Texas Born. Texas Bred. Texas Forever” branded into the flag. The crowd reaction is mixed, but there are more cheers than boos, as “Ready or Not” by Fugees plays throughout the PA system. As the chorus begins to fade there is one final image that is displayed across the screen and that message reads in bold, capitalized letters…..S-C-O-T-T. S-T-E-V-E-N-S. as “Hellraiser” by Motorhead begins to play. The cheers intensify as the chorus hits the speakers, drawing out the man from Texas.
Bryan McVay: The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, he is a two-time High Octane Wrestling World Champion, representing the Great State of Texas, weighing in at 256lbs…HE IS…SCOTT! STEEEEEEE-VENNNNNNS!
Walking down the aisle, Stevens fists bumps some of his fans while raising a fist at a few of the more vocal bashers. As he finally gets to the ring, he climbs the nearest turnbuckle and stares out into the crowd. Stevens gives them a nod and jumps down to the mat and warms up. His music is replaced with “Onto the next one” by Jay-Z, and flanked by Riddle and Houston, Jason P Davidson appears on the stage to a chorus of boos.
Bryan McVay: And his opponent, representing Four Corners Wrestling, from Miami, Florida, weighing in at 242lbs… JASON! P! DAAAAAVIIIIIDSOOOOON!
The trio make their way down the ramp, but after they get halfway, a section of the crowd starts inexplicably cheering. The trio look to one side of the ramp, as does Stevens in the ring, and four members of the EPU emerge from the crowd in full armour, forming a line at the bottom of the ramp. They are soon joined by a fifth, whose armour is a lot lighter, but appears to be directing traffic. The trio start arguing, but the EPU stand firm, pointing at Cyrus Riddle and Caleb Houston until eventually they make a retreat back up the ramp again. The EPU step aside, and a frustrated Jason finally climbs into the ring where a smirking Stevens awaits.
Joe Hoffman: Looks like somebody’s taking no chances for this match. Maybe Stevens got himself in good graces with Lee?
Benny Newell: Fuck that shit, have you met our God? This is fucking revenge, Hoffman.
As the EPU spread themselves out around the ring, keeping watch, referee Joel Hortega checks both men for weapons, and makes sure both are ready. Getting the affirmative, he signals the timekeeper to ring the bell.
DING DING DING!
The two circle each other to start things off, neither man seemingly wanting to make the first move. They lock up in a collar and elbow, and Stevens gets the upper hand first, pulling Jason into a headlock. Jason takes Stevens’ wrist, twisting out and putting him in a standing armlock, but Stevens returns the favour, twisting Jason’s arm behind him and giving him a clubbing forearm across the back of the head. Jason staggers forward a few steps, before turning to face Stevens again. They lock up a second time, and this time Jason gets the upper hand first, pulling Stevens into a side headlock. Stevens pushes him off towards the ropes, flooring Jason briefly with a shoulder bash. Stevens runs the ropes to try and follow up, and Jason drops back down again to try and trip Stevens up. Stevens jumps over, but Jason charges, elbowing Stevens in the face on the rebound before the Texan has a chance to react. Stevens leans against the ropes, and Jason follows up with a few lefts and rights before Hortega starts counting to five. Backing away, he tries to seemingly clothesline Stevens over the top rope, but Stevens counters with a back body drop. Jason controls his fall, landing on the apron and again hitting Stevens in the face with a forearm smash. As Stevens staggers away, Jason catches a hovering EPU member in the corner of his eye and lashes out with a kick. The EPU member backs off, but when Jason turns back to Stevens, he gets launched off of the apron with a shoulder tackle, hitting his face and shoulder off of the barrier.
Joe Hoffman: I was expecting a hotter start from Stevens in this match, but he looks to be trying to keep a cool head, and it’s prevailing so far.
Benny Newell: He lost the World Championship to Traitorson on the go-home show to ICONIC last year, I don’t blame him! If he thought he was in hot water then he’s got no idea what’s coming for him if he disappoints God now!
Stevens wastes no time leaving the ring, getting through the ropes before Hortega has any chance to try and stop him. Before Jason can recover, Stevens whips him across the ringside area, sending Jason shoulder first into the ring. Stevens tries to do it again, whipping Jason towards the ring steps, but Jason reverses, and Stevens goes knee first into the steps, landing on the other side.
TRES!
As Hortega starts counting the two out, Jason takes a moment to shake some feeling into his arm, making his way around the ring. Giving the stink eye to the EPU member from before on the way past, who doesn’t seem to pay him any attention, he turns back to Stevens who is just getting back to his feet himself. He slams Stevens’ head on the apron, before climbing up onto the apron and retreating to the corner. He runs back across the apron looking for something vicious, but before he can, Stevens grabs his other leg and pulls it from under him. With a sickening thud, Jason lands shoulder first on the apron again, as Stevens drops to a knee to recover further.
SEIS!
With Hortega’s count getting higher, Stevens pushes Jason to roll him into the ring, before climbing in afterwards and covering him. However, because of the proximity to the ropes, Hortega hesitates before getting into position to count.
UNO…
DOS…
Just after the two count, Jason grabs the bottom rope, stopping the count. Stevens takes a second to realise what happened, looking up to see Jason’s hand, before yanking it off the ropes and covering him again, this time holding his wrist to his side.
UNO…
DOS…
This time Jason kicks out, but Stevens stays on the offensive, getting to his feet and stomping at Jason’s chest and shoulder before Hortega ushers him away.
Benny Newell: Surprised you’re not commending Stevens for working a limb, you usually get it off to that kinda shit.
Joe Hoffman: It’s a good tactic, but normally with a high flier like Davidson you would target a leg to slow the match down. We’ll see if targeting the shoulder is out of convenience or if Stevens has a plan here.
Benny Newell: Maybe he’s trying to break the fucker’s arm, and make him even more like Mike Best.
Stevens drags Jason to the middle of the ring, before grabbing the injured arm and stepping over, going for a cross armbar. Before he can lock it in, Jason clasps his hands together, stopping Stevens from extending the arm further. Stevens pulls at Jason’s wrists to try and separate them, but using the added leverage, Jason instead manages to bowl Stevens onto his shoulders.
UNO…
DOS…
Stevens realises what was going on just in the nick of time, letting go of Jason and pushing him off to break the cover, but Jason uses the added distance to roll out of the ring again, trying to shake his arm off. Stevens gives chase, trying to make a rapid exit between the bottom two ropes, but as he does Jason leaps up with an overhead kick, sending a resounding thwack throughout the Best Arena. Stevens lays slumped on the bottom rope, dazed, and Jason climbs onto the apron to take advantage. He takes a few steps forward, before sending both feet into the side of Stevens’ head with a dropkick. Hortega shouts at Jason in Spanish, presumably ordering him back in the ring, and Jason complies, rolling Stevens away from the ropes and covering him.
UNO…
DOS…
TRES!
NO! Stevens kicks out just in the nick of time, but he’s clearly dazed. Jason slowly gets to his feet, running to the opposite ropes and using them to hit Stevens with a Springboard Moonsault, connecting flush with Stevens’ chest, before again making the cover.
UNO…
DOS…
TRES!
NO! Again, Stevens just stays in the match with a kick out. Jason holds up three fingers at Hortega, but the referee insists it was only two. Clearly not the answer he was looking for, Jason starts arguing, poking Hortega in the chest, who starts arguing back in Spanish and pointing to his referee’s shirt. Jason returns his focus back to Stevens, who even then is still only just recovering, and hooks his arms.
Joe Hoffman: Davidson going for Twisted Reality here, this could end it!
Jason tries to lift Stevens overhead, but halfway through the lift, stops and bends down again. He goes for the lift a second time, but this time his shoulder seems to give way, giving Stevens enough leverage to toss Jason across the ring with a pseudo-arm-drag.
Benny Newell: Plan paid off after all!
Jason nurses his shoulder for a second, before looking up and seeing Stevens just getting to his own feet. Going for broke, he charges forward, looking for the Bow To The King, but…
Joe Hoffman: TOXIC STING! Stevens played possum!
Still dazed, Stevens covers Jason, hooking both legs.
UNO…
DOS…
TRES!
DING DING DING!
Bryan McVay: Here is your winner… SCOTT! STEEEEEVEEEEEENS!
The crowd pops as Stevens’ music plays and the Texan slowly gets to his feet. Hortega raises his arms, and Stevens goes to the ropes, raising both his arms in victory and mouthing off to the camera.
Joe Hoffman: Both these men gave it their all, but in the end, a brief lapse of focus gave Stevens the opening he needed to pick up the win and get some revenge for Chaos.
Benny Newell: What did I tell you Hoffhole! I told you at the start of the match he was going to breeze through Davidson, and-
Joe Hoffman: Look out!
In the ring, as Stevens was celebrating, Jason caught him from behind with a low blow, crumpling the Texan. Jason slowly gets to his feet, kicking and stomping on Stevens on the mat, and targeting the head he had already been attacking for most of the match. Seeing Stevens prone on the mat, Jason signals his finisher again, running the opposite ropes. He rebounds back, getting halfway across the ring before…
THWACK!
A steel chair thrown across the ring hits Jason square in the side of the head, enough to drop him to one knee. He gets back up, turning to where the chair came from, and finds himself face to face with the light-armoured EPU member standing on the apron of the ring. Jason takes a few steps forwards to try and swing at the EPU member, but he drops down, putting his hands up as if in innocence. Jason doesn’t take no for an answer, leaning through the ropes and shouting down, almost challenging the man to a fight. The man doesn’t budge, so Davidson starts climbing through the ropes. As soon as he does, a recovering Stevens sweeps his leg, sending him crotch first into the middle rope. Spotting the chair nearby, Stevens gets up to his feet, pulling Davidson up and hitting him with a Spike Piledriver onto the chair, causing Jason to crumple to the mat. It’s only a few seconds later that he realises the chair wasn’t there before, and as he gets to his feet, he locks eyes with the mask of the light-armoured EPU member. The EPU member looks right back at him, gives him a slow clap before making his way up the entrance ramp. Stevens’ music blares over the PA once more, and as he looks down at the unconscious Jason, the feed goes to the HOV.
We cut to some pretaped video footage of Julliet Brooks from earlier on who was seen standing in front of the Madison Square Garden arena, and decided while she was there she would take some photos with her loyal fans. Not scheduled to compete, she made the decision to watch the show in the comfort of her VIP suite later, so that explained her reasoning for being there. After she moved on to signing items. Once she was finished there, she thanked the fans and moved forward to where she looked directly at the marquee that advertised the show, then she pulled out a folded paper from her back pocket, unfolded it and it was a flyer that had the card on it. The camera zoomed in on it before fading away to another commercial.
