Saturday Night CHAOS
October 9, 1999
United States Championship
Mankind (c) vs Scorpion vs Stone Cold Steve Austin
With SPOT-KU officially over, with Frank Apollo turning his back on the main goal of eliminating the Archer threat, President Dave and Cy Kopath in a bitter feud, gives Scorpion a reason to refocus on what truly matters and that’s getting back the world championship from Frank Apollo. Since he was denied his rematch against Apollo he would have to climb the ladder the old fashion way and that was by becoming the number one contender in a fifteen man, over the top, battle royal. He was one of the early entrants coming in at number six and looked strong early on eliminating the sadistic, Lucifer and the idiot, Bugeye. However, eliminating Bugeye would be his downfall. Scorpion’s frienemy, Gary Oakston entered the ring, hit a neck breaker on Scorpion and tried to eliminate him right off the bat and this gave Bugeye the opportunity to eliminate his rival Oakston but it also cost Scorpion his shot at the world championship. Scorpion did leave a parting gift for Bugeye for him costing him a title shot and that was beating the hell out of his manager on his way back to the locker room.
He may not have won the Contendership battle royal, but because of his impressive performance he did earn a shot at the United States championship the following week. He faced the champion, Mankind and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in a triple threat, hardcore match. The match was brutal, and in the final moments of the match Scorpion was about to secure the United States title after he nailed Stone Cold with a Z”Ha”Dum, but when he got up to go make the cover he ate a Mr. Socko, Mandible Claw that sent him to the outside of the ring and Mankind drilled Austin with a double arm DDT on a trash can lid for good measure to secure the win.
