Season Seven, Week Eight
Blackpool, England
March 11, 2014
SUBMISSION MATCH: Scott Stevens (3-3, OVR 314) vs. Sean Lyaskaris (5-2, OVR 321)
Amelia Williams: Our next contest is a Submission match! There are no pinfalls, countouts, or disqualifications! The only ways to win are by referee stoppage, or by submission with falls counting anywhere!
The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" The crowd starts booing, but it’s not just a normal level of booing. It’s a booing of pure hatred. Chris Benoit level booing as an electric guitar wails throughout the PA system and the words of Dave Mustaine's voice echoes throughout the arena, "As I climb onto your back, I will promise not to sting. I will, tell you what you want to hear and not mean anything. Then I, treat you like a dog, as I shoot my venom in. You pretend you didn't know, that I am The Scorpion, whoa!" The jeering intensifies as the instrumental after the chorus hits the speakers, drawing out "The Venomous One" Scott Stevens and his sinister, yet beautiful wife, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens. They stand at the top of the ramp and kiss each other to the delight of the crowd. Walking down the aisle, Scott talks trash the entire way while raising a fist at a few of the more vocal bashers and Lisa flicks off the ignorant fans asking her to show her boobs. As they reach the ring, Lisa kisses her husband's cheek before he finally gets to the ring. Once in the ring he climbs the nearest turnbuckle and stares down at the crowd, an icy glare and the throat slash gesture his only actions as he drops to the mat while Lisa cheers him on.
Amelia Williams: Introducing first, being accompanied by his wife, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens, he hails from Houston, Texas, weighing in at 256 pounds...He is "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!
Bob Sinclair: Stevens is known as a decent submission wrestler, with a crossface submission in his repertoire, but I think he may be outclassed tonight.
Frankie Garnett: Outclassed? Who are you trying to fool, Bob? Stevens can wrestle circles around anyone in The League!
Tori Montgomery: While I might disagree with some of Stevens' actions, I think this is going to be a real test for both men tonight.
The anticipation builds as the opening to Dream Theater's "Pull Me Under" hits the arena speakers, causing a few of the lights at the entryway to flash alternately. As the opening builds to a crescendo, he finally makes an appearance, sneering a bit at the assembled audience as he begins his stride to the ring. Focusing his attention on the ring itself, he climbs up the steps and ducks between the ropes, shedding his entrance jacket as he stonily gazes toward the center of the ring.
Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Charlotte, North Carolina, by way of Osaka, Japan, weighing 230 pounds..."The Gaijin Crippler," Sean Lyaskaris!
Bob Sinclair: Sean is well-known for his figure-four, the Lyaskaris Lock, as it has beaten the best The League has to offer in the past.
Tori Montgomery: Of the two, I think he's the more "pure" submission wrestler, and I think he's going to come away with the win, but it won't be easy at all.
