ALPHA DIVISION: Thor Hammerskald (3-5, OVR 313) vs. Scott Stevens (4-4, OVR 322)
Anthrax's "Blood" hits the speakers, to a decent ovation he emerges from backstage, looking every bit the part of a Viking warrior as he strides to the ring with a determined look on his face...and scattering some of the fans away from the entrance ramp as he turns to glare at them. Making sure the fans are sufficiently cowed, he climbs the steps and enters the ring, his eyes never leaving the middle of the ring as he takes off his entrance gear and holds aloft his title belt for all to see.
Amelia Williams: This is an Alpha Division contest scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds, he is the reigning and defending League Champion...Thor Hammerskald!
Bob Sinclair: Is it a safe assumption to say that Thor desperately needs a win here?
Tori Montgomery: Fairly safe, yes. He's five matches back entering tonight, and is going to need to win out to have a fair shot at even a wild card berth.
Frankie Garnett: I would make a crack about how the mighty have fallen, but that's too easy even for me.
The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" The crowd starts booing, but it’s not just a normal level of booing. It’s a booing of pure hatred. Chris Benoit level booing as an electric guitar wails throughout the PA system and the words of Dave Mustaine's voice echoes throughout the arena, "As I climb onto your back, I will promise not to sting. I will, tell you what you want to hear and not mean anything. Then I, treat you like a dog, as I shoot my venom in. You pretend you didn't know, that I am The Scorpion, whoa!" The jeering intensifies as the instrumental after the chorus hits the speakers, drawing out "The Venomous One" Scott Stevens and his sinister, yet beautiful wife, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens. They stand at the top of the ramp and kiss each other to the delight of the crowd. Walking down the aisle, Scott talks trash the entire way while raising a fist at a few of the more vocal bashers and Lisa flicks off the ignorant fans asking her to show her boobs. As they reach the ring, Lisa kisses her husband's cheek before he finally gets to the ring. Once in the ring he climbs the nearest turnbuckle and stares down at the crowd, an icy glare and the throat slash gesture his only actions as he drops to the mat while Lisa cheers him on.
Amelia Williams: (opening), being accompanied by his wife, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens, he hails from Houston, Texas, weighing in at 256 pounds...He is "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!
Tori Montgomery: For Stevens, it's not as much of a must-win but with every passing week the playoff chances get slimmer.
Frankie Garnett: While I think Stevens has this one going away, it's going to be interesting.
Bob Sinclair: We're about to find out; here's the bell to get us underway!
