Chaos 049
Event Date: November 13, 2023 at 10:00 pm
The camera comes back to the ringside area of the Wells Fargo Arena here in Des Moines, Iowa. The crowd is on their feet ready for more action here tonight on Chaos 049. After a quick pan of the crowd, the camera comes to rest on the announcer’s table where Joe Hoffman and Benny Newell are ready to call the action.
Joe Hoffman: The show is steamrolling along here in Des Moines and as you can already see one half of our next match is already inside of the ring.
Benny Newell: When you’re a HOW Hall of Famer and you lose a match In God’s House to a man that considers himself a ‘Dandy’ then you don’t deserve entrance music.
Joe Hoffman: Let’s send it to Bryan McVay in the ring to make the introductions.
The camera shifts to the center of the ring where Bryan McVay is standing with his microphone in hand. Referee Joel Hortega stands in the ring behind McVay as he raises the microphone to his lips.
Bryan McVay: Our next contest is scheduled for one fall!
The small pop from the fans here in Des Moines.
Bryan McVay: Introducing first… already in the ring. From Boston, Massachusetts, weighing in tonight at 220 lbs. He is a HOW Hall of Famer… SHANEEE! REYNOLDSSS!
The camera shifts to the corner where Shane is pacing back and forth. The crowd gives him a mixed reaction but it’s hard to tell Shane’s reaction to it due to the mask on his face.
Joe Hoffman: As you mentioned earlier, Benny. Shane was unsuccessful at the PPV losing to the man who will be competing in our main event tonight known as Charles De Lacy.
Benny Newell: That obviously left a bad taste in Shane’s mouth which is why he’s out here already in the ring. He’s looking to cleanse his palate with the juicy victory known as Scott Stevens.
Shane finally stops pacing as McVay raises the microphone into the air again.
Bryan McVay: And his opponent…
The lights in the arena go black as the sound of bells is heard throughout the arena. Each bell lights up a single spotlight above the stage and the final bell brings the High Octane Vision to life as
“FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS” by Metallica begins to play.
The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen a Texas flag, with the words, “Texas Born. Texas Bred.” “Texas Forever.“ branded into the flag. The arena bursts the roof off with cheers as the crowd knows who is about to walk out and they are letting him know it by chanting his name. The final image that is displayed across the screen is a giant hand that slowly closes into a FIST as letters slowly appear and form a message and that message reads in bold, capitalized letters… SCOTT STEVENS.
Bryan McVay: From The Great State of Texas, weighing in tonight at 256 pounds. He is a HOW Hall of Famer… SCOTTT! STEVENSSS!
The wait is finally over as a spotlight shines towards the top of the entrance ramp as the chorus hits the speakers drawing out the man from Texas. The cheers intensify as Scott Stevens appears from behind the curtain. the Texan stares down at his opponent with an icy glare before slowly raising his right fist high into the air. As he lowers it, he gives his opponent the unofficial state bird of Texas to show his true feelings towards them.
Joe Hoffman: Well Stevens is making it clear how he feels about Shane Reynolds.
Benny Newell: Stevens is an idiot but how else is he supposed to feel about Shane? Do you think he’s marching down to the ring to hug Reynolds? Fuck all of that soft as fuck bullshit. If that is what you think professional wrestling is all about? Then you need to take a hike down to the land of Sad Cowboys and Men of the Year.
Joe Hoffman: I’m just going to skip right over that and remind folks that Scott Stevens is coming off a win against a man of XPRO fame in Drew Mitchell.
Benny Newell: R.I.P XPRO. I swear to Lee if that pirate bitch tried to take me out what that fucking bat? Let’s just say that Lee Best would be booking a vacation to piss on his grave this time!
As Stevens makes it down the aisle, he fist-bumps some of his fans while raising a fist at a few of the more vocal bashers. Stevens slowly makes his way around the ring never taking his eyes off of his opponent until he reaches the nearest set of ring steps and proceeds to enter the ring. Once inside, Stevens goes to the nearest corner and ascends the ropes; looking out amongst the crowd before raising his fist once more before dropping to the canvas as a loud chant erupts from the crowd.
Joe Hoffman: You have to think that Shane is the strong favorite here tonight, but Stevens seems mighty confident.
Benny Newell: The word you’re looking for is delusional.
McVay exits the ring as Stevens climbs down off the ropes. Hortega begins to check over both men before taking a step back to call for the bell to get things started.
DING DING
Both men come out of their respective corners and instantly begin to trade punches back and forth. Stevens being the stronger man gets the advantage of the exchange but some of the damage is absorbed by the mask on Shane’s face. That doesn’t stop Stevens from firing away with heavy shots that begin to cause Reynolds to stagger back toward the ropes. Scott rears back and goes for a big knockout shot but Shane manages to duck under the punch from Stevens. Scott turns himself around quickly, but he eats a boot to the midsection from his fellow Hall of Famer. Stevens is doubled over from the shot before Shane grabs him by the arm and whips him into the ropes. Reynolds moves to the center of the ring as Stevens hits the ropes. Shane leaps into the air and goes for a dropkick but Stevens hooks his arms onto the top rope to stop himself and watches Shane crash down to the canvas.
Joe Hoffman: Scott Stevens made it no secret this week that he was studying the match from the PPV between CDL and Shane. Stevens had the dropkick scouted and wasn’t about to be hit with it so easily.
Benny Newell: Kind of embarrassing to be in the ring against someone and you decide to leave your feet like that. If you hit the move great but if you miss like Shane just did, well you end up looking like a jackass.
Stevens watches Shane start to pull himself off of the canvas and then gets a running start. Scott goes for Don’t Mess With Texas, but Reynolds manages to roll out of the way of the big knee strike. Stevens turns and smiles at Shane, taunting him as the masked man regroups himself in the corner. Reynolds charges out of the corner and goes for a leaping clothesline but Stevens ducks under it. Scott grabs hold of Shane by the hair and then bends him backward. Stevens wraps his arm around Reynolds’ neck and then plants him with the Scorpion Death Drop. Stevens pulls himself back up to his feet then grabs hold of Shane and peels him off of the canvas. Scott hooks Reynolds by the neck again and then lifts him high into the air. Stevens spikes Shane down to the canvas hard with a brainbuster. Reynolds rolls around on the mat holding his neck in pain as Scott gets back up to his feet. He pulls Shane back up to a vertical base and then shoots him off into the ropes. Reynolds bounces off the ropes but Stevens catches him and launches him straight up into the air.
Joe Hoffman: Shane just got rocked by Debbie Does Dallas!
The European uppercut finds its mark as Shane is on the way down. The Hall of Famer crashes down to the canvas hard after the shot. Stevens hooks the leg and makes the cover on Reynolds as Hortega slides in for the count.
Joel Hortega: UNO
Joel Hortega: DOS
REYNOLDS GETS A SHOULDER OFF THE CANVAS
Joe Hoffman: The European uppercut by Stevens connected but Shane Reynolds managed to get his shoulder off the canvas before the three.
Benny Newell: You have to believe that Shane’s mask is the only thing that saved him right there. Scott Stevens is clearly focused on attacking the head and neck of his opponent.
Stevens gets back up to his feet and then grabs hold of Shane. Scott pulls Reynolds back up to a vertical base and then whips him into the corner spine-first hard. Stevens slowly steps backward into the opposite corner and plays to the crowd a little bit.
Benny Newell: You have Shane Reynolds reeling but of course, he’s too busy hamming it up. Like death and taxes, you just know that Stevens is going to Stevens.
Scott bolts out of the corner and then leaps into the air going for the Stinger Splash but Shane manages to move out of the way. Stevens crashes and burns hard into the empty turnbuckle.
Joe Hoffman: Scott Stevens telegraphed that Stinger Splash but missed! Shane Reynolds has an opening here!
Stevens backs out of the corner holding his chest in pain from the impact. Shane grabs hold of Scott from behind before snapping him up and over with a dragon suplex down to the canvas. Stevens hits the mat hard but Shane is slow to get back up to one knee.
Joe Hoffman: Vicious dragon suplex there by Reynolds and now he’s brought himself to precious time to recover and get into this match.
Benny Newell: If it was anyone other than Stevens then Shane might have been toast right there. He desperately needed to avoid that splash and go on the offensive. I was starting to wonder if the loss to De Lacy has fucked with his head a bit.
Shane rubs over his neck as he finally pulls himself up to a vertical base. Stevens begins to stir on the canvas and fight his way up. Reynolds gets a running start and then hits Scott with a running dropkick that causes him to crash backward into the corner. Shane gets up to his feet and stalks over to the corner. Shane holds the back of his neck but places one of his boots on the throat of the Texan. Reynolds puts his weight down on the neck of Stevens, choking his fellow Hall of Famer in the corner.
Joe Hoffman: Shane Reynolds is blatantly choking Stevens with his boot now and Hortega needs to get in there and break this up.
Benny Newell: Shane’s doing what he has to do to buy himself more time. Notice how he’s still holding his neck? I don’t think he’s fully recovered from that match against the Dandy fucker.
Hortega comes over and begins a five count as Shane chokes to choke Stevens in the corner. Reynolds removes his boot from Scott’s throat just before the count of Cinco but then places it right back on Stevens’ neck again. Shane continues to try and choke the life out of Stevens until Hortega grabs hold of him and pulls him away from the Texan. Hortega begins to admonish Shane, but Reynolds pays no attention to the official. Shane grabs hold of Stevens and pulls him out of the corner. Reynolds hooks the neck of Stevens and then uses the ropes to climb up and twist in the air to plant his opponent with a tornado DDT. Shane gets to his feet then grabs Scott by the arm and pulls him back up. Reynolds leaps into the air and then hits a double knee armbreaker to the arm of Stevens.
Joe Hoffman: Shane is systematically breaking down Scott Stevens here. First, it was choking him and working on his neck. And now he’s targeted the arm of Stevens using that double knee armbreaker.
Benny Newell: The work on the neck was revenge for what Stevens did to him earlier, Hoffhole. However, working on the arm of Stevens means that it’ll be harder to hit Shane with that Toxic Sting. Wait… I know what Scott Stevens’ finisher is?! Fuck, I miss drinking.
Stevens gets back up to one knee holding his arm in pain. Shane regains a vertical base and then immediately races toward the ropes. Reynolds bounces off the ropes and then takes Scott down to the canvas with a swinging neckbreaker. Shane gets back up to his feet and then begins to stomp away at the arm of the Texan. Reynolds grabs the arm of Stevens and pulls him back up to his feet. Shane twists the arm and gets Stevens into a hammerlock but then combines it with a DDT down to the canvas. The hammerlock DDT has Stevens hurting in more ways than one as Reynolds gets back to a vertical base. Shane stalks around Stevens as he struggles to pull himself off of the canvas. Reynolds measures up Stevens as he tries to stand on unsteady legs. Shane moves in quickly and then…
Joe Hoffman: DISCUS BACK ELBOW TO THE FACE OF STEVENS!
Benny Newell: This coming election season, instead of Stevens, I fucking voted for that! GOODNIGHT FUCKSTICK!
Stevens hits the canvas like a ton of bricks from the elbow shot. Shane hooks the leg and makes the cover on Stevens as Hortega slides in for the count.

Shane marches back up to his feet and then grabs hold of Scott. Shane pulls Stevens back up to his feet and slaps him across the face. Stevens staggers backward from the slap but Reynolds grabs him by the arm. Shane goes to shoot Stevens off into the ropes but Scott reverses and then plants Reynolds down to the canvas.
Joe Hoffman: Nice counter by Stevens using the Double S Spinebuster!
Benny Newell: Stevens is too big and too strong. And once again, I point out that Shane Reynolds just hasn’t seemed like the same guy he was before that match against CDL!
Both men are down as Hortega begins a ten count. There is tension in the crowd as they watch to see which man can make it up to his feet first. Shane uses the ropes to pull himself up off the canvas, but he doesn’t notice that Stevens is back up to his feet. Scott grabs hold of Reynolds from behind then lifts him up and over with a release German suplex. Shane hits the back of his head and neck hard, but Stevens keeps his grip. Scott muscles Shane back up and hits him with a second German suplex. Reynolds has a hard time telling where he is at the moment, but Stevens pulls him up one more time. Shane desperately reaches for the ropes but Scott hurls him up and over with a third and final release German suplex.
Joe Hoffman: Scott Stevens is using his size and strength to manhandle Shane Reynolds here!
Benny Newell: The Shane Reynolds from back in the day would never let such a thing happen to him.
Stevens gets back up to his feet and then points toward the top rope. The crowd cheers wildly as Scott steps through the ropes and begins to climb the turnbuckle. Shane remains on the mat and is barely moving as Stevens finds his balance on the top rope. Scott leaps off the top rope going for a diving headbutt but Shane pops up to his feet and counters by using Stevens’ own momentum to bring him down to the canvas with double knees.
Joe Hoffman: SHANE REYNOLDS WAS PLAYING POSSUM WHILE STEVENS RISKED IT ALL!
Benny Newell: STEVENS GONNA STEVENS! IT’S THE SAFEST BET ANYONE COULD EVER MAKE!
Shane pulls himself back up to his feet, clearly still in pain while Stevens is still on the canvas. Reynolds steps through the ropes and now it’s his turn to start to climb the turnbuckle. The crowd is on their feet as the Hall of Famer perches himself on the top rope. Shane leaps off the top rope looking to put Stevens away but the Texan is also playing possum. Scott kips up to his feet and catches Shane in midair…
Joe Hoffman: TOXIC STING OUT OF NOWHERE!

Benny Newell: Stevens doesn’t just want to win here. He wants to make a statement!
Stevens runs his thumb across his neck and then grips Shane by the waist. Scott lifts Reynolds into the air before spiking him down to the canvas with the Game Changer. Benny Newell: It’s like I told you, Joe. Shane Reynolds hasn’t at all recovered from that match he had against CDL at the In God’s House PPV. It showed here tonight when even Scott Stevens can make you look like a bitch.
Joe Hoffman: Speaking of Charles De Lacy, we’ll be seeing him tonight in our main event as he takes on The Gold Standard John Sektor for the HOTv Championship belt. Joe Hoffman: I’d be lying to you if I didn’t admit that I’m surprised Stevens won here tonight in such a dominating fashion. However, it’s a big win regardless for Scott Stevens as we continue the path to ICONIC!
Will the Dandy leave here with HOW gold for the first time? Stay tuned to find out but let’s send it backstage to Blaire Moise who is standing by.
