Season Three, Week Fourteen
Edinburgh, Scotland
June 6, 2011
BETA DIVISION: Scott Stevens (7-6, 13%) vs. The Phoenix (7-6, 28%)
The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" Over the audio system a snippet of Dave Mustaine from the song "Scorpion" yells, "I am the Scorpion whoah!!!" This causes the crowd to start booing as a mash up of "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack and "Amazing" by Kanye West hits the speakers. Out from the back emerges "The Venomous One" wearing a replica of The League's World Championship around his waist and the man in question walks to the ring, talking trash the whole way while showing off his title belt.
Amelia Williams: This is a Beta Division match, scheduled for one fall and will determine the Beta Division champion! Introducing first, from Houston, Texas, weighing 265 pounds...He is "The League's Real World's Heavyweight Champion"... "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!
Tori Montgomery: If Stevens wins, he's likely got the division. Only three possibilities keep Stevens out of the Beta Division title.
Frankie Garnett: He's your new divisional champ, Tori. Bank on it!
Bob Sinclair: We'll find out; Stevens has a test ahead of him tonight!
The opening chords of "The Instinct" hit as the entryway is bathed in a fiery orange light. Twin pillars of flame erupt from the entrance stage, one per side, as The League's largest member walks to the ring, a smaller figure walking beside him on his left. As he approaches the steps, he pauses, bowing his head for a few seconds before taking a deep breath and releasing a shout to the skies above. His wife reaches up and gives him a quick peck on the cheek for luck as he ducks between the ropes and finishes his stretching..
Amelia Williams: His opponent , being accompanied to the ring by Te'Snilo Bradenbury, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds, he is the Beta Division leader...this is The Phoenix!
Tori Montgomery: It's simple. A win and he's in.
Frankie Garnett: Ain't happening!
Bob Sinclair: I think he's got a chance, Frankie.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of nine minutes and ten seconds...Scott Stevens!
Frankie Garnett: Ha! Fat boy choked again!
Bob Sinclair: But was it enough? Stevens finished his opponent quicker, it's true, but did that affect the Rating Committee's view?
Frankie Garnett: It better not have! Stevens beat the division leader; that should be enough!
Bob Sinclair: It appears that Tori is off the phone, and Amelia Williams is now speaking with the Rating Committee, wanting to be sure that she hears the message correctly. Remember, Stevens needs this to be at least a C- or the win will have been for naught.
Frankie Garnett: If he doesn't get this, I swear that there is a damn conspiracy here.
Bob Sinclair: Amelia has put down the phone and has the microphone in hand, let's find out who the Beta Division champion is!
Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, the Rating Committee has rendered their decision. They rate this match between Scott Stevens and The Phoenix....
....
....
...
...a D ranking! Therefore, your Beta Division champion, by way of average match rating tie-breaker...DIAMOND!
Bob Sinclair: And this crowd has gone absolutely bananas!
Frankie Garnett: Bananas my [censored] ass! Stevens was just robbed! The League has [censored] him over again!
Tori Montgomery: Frankie, watch your language!
Frankie Garnett: No! I'm telling it like it is! Scorpion was just robbed of his rightful place in the playoffs!
While Frankie rants at ringside, Stevens turns to where Phoenix is starting to leverage himself onto his feet, and lets out a primal scream. A moment later, he charges in, clipping the knee of Phoenix to send the big man down to the mat. Stevens assumes a mount position, raining down right hands on the unprotected skull of Phoenix, drawing blood quickly and very violently. The referee tries to interfere, only to get punched in the crotch from an enraged Stevens, who resumes beating on the head of Phoenix. A chorus of boos rains in from the crowd, and as trash starts to fly into the ring, Stevens ceases his assault...but only momentarily. In the next breath, he has Phoenix trapped in a rear naked choke, squeezing the oxygen out of the big man. The camera sees Phoenix's face turn red, then a shade of violet as Stevens puts as much pressure on the hold as he can. The camera also catches Stevens shouting that "you cost me my destiny, you [censored]!" Referees pour in from backstage, and finally force the break after nearly a full minute of having that hold applied. Phoenix lays unmoving on the mat as "The Scorpion" spits on his fallen adversary and stalks up the ramp, not even heeding the jeers of this Scottish crowd. The show ends with EMTs and medical personnel trying to bring Phoenix back to consciousness, worried about his formerly-injured neck....
